Facebook?

Throughout our several weeks in the states, we were attacked again by the Facebook evangelists. We have some great friends who have encouraged us to join the Facebook revolution, but we have been holding out. Why? I dont know! We just havent taken the plunge. We have talked to many people about it and they always say, "yea, you should join facebook, but you sure can waste alot of time." Does that not sound like an oxymoron? I already waste alot of time, I am not sure I need to volunteer myself for greater time debt. I dont know. The whole idea of friend requests, obligations, getting denied, it just all sounds kind of fragile. So, what do you think? Help us out! We love the idea of staying connected with more people, but are not sure we are willing to pay the price. Is it worth it?

ha ha! i love the term facebook evangelist. that would describe me very well. yes facebook can be a time-waster and lots of other negative things. but you know me, I am 100% relational and Facebook has been awesome in that area. I have gotten to know many many women from our (large) church via facebook and Facebook has jumpstarted many friendships and rekindled others. It makes connecting that much easier!

i hardly ever go on facebook, even though i joined awhile ago. (I honestly had no desire to be on in the first place.) however i have reconnected with people that i had lost contact with since college, and had no idea how to connect with again, so for that it was worth it.

It can be a time waster if you let it, but for the most part I enjoy it for just keeping in touch with friends. I especially like being to "talk" to friends from around the country that I rarely see.

Look at it this way, it's something to give up for lent next year :)

I have found fb a great way to keep up on important happenings. I have learned a lot on fb that I might not hear otherwise till so far after the fact that I missed the opportunity to pray!

Right now there is a sister in Tremont that is dying of cancer and I am hoping her daughter will keep us up to date on her wall.

I don't get on fb often because it can be a time waster, but it is fun to see what others are up to once in awhile.

I have also reconnected with a LOT of people I haven't seen in 20 years or more!

Im probably one of the few and perhaps you don't know me to well either, so my comment may go by the wayside, which is fine, but since I have a strong feeling on this issue I thought Id comment:).
I am NOT a fan of facebook. Here are my reasons....
1. it is a HUGE time waster.
2. you may reconnect with people, however some of them you will find out fill their facebook with trash and leave status's that are not worth reading with bad language..(this is if you happen to reconnect with old classmates)
3. my sister Joy and Jason Huber were hacked into unfortunently by some hacker and was announcing that he was "jason" and was talking on facebook with "friends" and even brought up info on their daughter Jayla. It was very scary and thankfully Facebook closed their account. Even with private settings, you can never be to careful.
4. (last by not least)...if you do want to close your facebook page it's a challenge. I couldn't figure it out and so I have gone to my facebook page and deleted everything I possibly could (except if people post pictures of you...they have to delete them..you can't) so I am stuck with a few photos on my page that Id love to be removed.

Thats my two scents:) Take it or leave it, however you choose!! Love reading your blog:)

In case you have no idea who I am...I was Sandra Gutwein if that helps any:)
