Gateway Auction!!!
What a tradition!!! Today was a fundraising auction for "Gateway Woods," the place that I used to work. It is a ministry of our church that is social service agency and residential facility. Every August, they have an auction to raise money to support the ministry. We have been going to this auction for years and years. It is just tradition. With the marvels of technology, we can find ways to still participate. These days, the auction planners post the list of items online on Friday night. For the past few years, we have waited for the document of items to be posted, we peruse the list, and then send an email with a few items that we may be interested in buying. My parents then act as our representatives at the sale and we can participate across the miles. It is not the same, but it gives us some type of connection. Honestly, the sale more accurately represents a reunion or social gathering and there is no way to replicate that across the miles. There are many people that we see every year at the auction and it is always good to catch up and enjoy fellowship. We hope that the day was a blessed day of fellowship and giving.

PS-I loved seeing your Mom there Kirk...for as many years as I've gone (only about 5-6 years or so), I always feel like I see your folks!
As your family has been so active in GW, what a great family tradition!
